MEET THE ARTIST
Halla Nimeiri
My journey, marked by perseverance and resilience in demanding spaces, ultimately created the space for my artistic awakening. Painting, a practice I embraced later in life, became an act of soul-baring. It allowed me to confront long-held grief, embrace emotional fragility, and reconnect with my deepest self. It's a space for mourning, for expressing the sadness I carried for so long.
My paintings are a visceral exploration of complex emotions – joy, doubt, insecurity, and a profound sense of solace. I allow grief to flow freely, like tears on canvas, liberating myself from the restraints of unspoken feelings. This is a reclamation of visibility, a release from the hesitancy that has silenced me for too long.
My art is a testament to the layered experience of my identity, reflecting the complexities of navigating multiple demanding roles. It provides a space to confront the submerged emotions – loneliness, sadness, and hidden experiences – that have shaped me. Through each brushstroke, I seek connection and understanding, finding inspiration in the quiet moments and the vibrant halls of museums. Art is no longer a hidden passion, but a vital expression of my truth.
